What is the Berry Chamber?

An association of independent businesses in and around the local area, which serves to represent the interests of local business and the local economy. Business members pay an annual fee which funds the activities of the Chamber. The Executive Committee meet monthly to work on an agenda of projects and issues which affect local businesses.

What does the Berry Chamber do?

It works to grow the local economy, to serve as a voice for business and to deliver value to members. Specifically it:

  • Actively promotes Berry and its events through television, print and radio advertising as well as social media
  • Organises information and networking events for its members
  • Makes representations on behalf of Berry’s businesses at local, state and government levels
  • Hosts events such as the Berry Merry Christmas Festival
  • Contributes critical funding and advertising support to other local events that bring custom and support to local businesses.

Present focus

At present, the Berry Chamber is focusing on actions which will minimise potential adverse affects on the local economy resulting from the highway bypass in 2015–17. This involves a variety of new marketing initiatives and infrastructural planning to ensure visitors keep coming to Berry.

Vision

To support members by offering training for better business and to deliver more customers to their door.

Mission

The mission of the Berry Chamber is to:

  • Increase membership each year
  • Increase members participation and involvement in Chamber activities
  • Provide more training and networking opportunities
  • Provide cost-effective marketing for members and Berry as a whole
  • Build local business viability through increasing visitor frequency duration each year.

What’s in it for members?

Being a member has a variety of benefits, both direct and indirect. You should join in order to:

    • Get your business listed on www.berry.org.au, which receives over 8500 visits per month (that’s 280 potential customers a day). You will receive direct referrals from people who will often find your listing on www.berry.org.au before your own website, when using a search engine. The power of the link to your website from www.berry.org.au is worth your membership fee alone because it boosts the performance of your own site’s rank in web search results.
    • Get your business listed on the printed Berry Map & Visitor’s Guide (updated annually).
    • Raise awareness of your business among other local businesses. Aside from Chamber members giving you business directly, many refer their customers to other members.
    • Attend free business-building seminars. From growth planning, to internet marketing seminars, chamber members get free access to advice from successful local business people and other experts.
    • Attend networking events, where members can meet socially and make the face-to-face connections which lead to more business.
    • Support yourself and your community by contributing to the marketing of Berry as a visitor destination. Berry relies on the health of the tourist trade. If you believe your local business is not affected by tourism, think again. It’s likely that your clients’ businesses rely on it and if they aren’t doing well, neither are you.
    • Help build Berry into the place you want to leave our children and grandchildren. The Chamber supports local initiatives and events which not only bring business to our town, but build the infrastructure that we all enjoy.

Join the Berry Chamber today and know your membership fee contributes to growing and safeguarding Berry’s economic future.
