Art Workshops at Berry will host artist and experienced educator, Idris Murphy who will teach a 3 day workshop focusing on painting and sketching directly from nature.
The property has a beautiful garden for those who wish to paint flowers and an orchard with a variety of fruit trees. Wildlife is abundant – wallabies, echidna, wombats and an array of birds. The countryside is lush with rolling hills, rugged escarpments, peaceful creeks and dry gums.
Students will be exposed to a variety of ideas and approaches with informal discussion on composition, colour, influences and the illusion of space.
Idris’ work is held in the public collections of the Australian National Gallery, the National Library of Australia and the Art Gallery of NSW. He has been listed as a finalist several times in the Sulman and Wynne art prizes and is highly experienced in teaching as a Senior Lecturer at the College of Fine Arts.
This is a rare opportunity to learn from a master of Australian landscape painting.
