Event Details
The Berry RSL Sub Branch is planning to proceed with Anzac Day commemorations in Berry with some significant changes due to COVID restrictions.
The march will be a shorter route than usual, commencing from outside the Berry RSL Sub Branch Hall in Alexandra Street and travelling the short distance to the Cenotaph and Memorial Garden on the cnr of Alexandra and Station St. The march is to be limited to uniformed ADF members, veterans, wreath-layers (if they wish) and Berry Red Cross. The march will commence at 10:30am.
All other people attending must sign in via QR code at COVID checkpoints at Alexandra Street / Victoria Street, and Station Street prior to the march arriving (assistance will be on hand for those without smartphones). It is requested that attendees arrive at the Memorial Park prior to 10.20 am as there is the need to get everyone seated and ensure adequate spacing for those who will be standing around the perimeter. This is the reverse of normal proceedings. Those who are standing are asked to observe the required spacing as posted on the day.
Inclement weather plan is to utilise the Berry School of Arts; however numbers will be restricted to 150.
If you wish to attend a Dawn Service the closest services are to be held at:
Shoalhaven Heads – Shoalhaven Heads Memorial Park just before 6am;
Bomaderry – Walsh Memorial Park, Meroo Street commencing at 5am;
Greenwell Point – commencing at 5:45am; and
Kiama – Lighthouse at Blowhole Point at dawn
Lest we forget.
