Lecture: Chanel & Broadhurst

September’s lecturer is Australian born creative Claudia Chan Shaw, who has a multi-faceted career in the arts, fashion, and television. She is co-designer and director for the internationally acclaimed Australian fashion label, Vivian Chan Shaw.

BEYOND THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS – CHANEL
Discover Chanel’s influence and the legacy of the Little Black Dress, showing that, as Chanel once said, “Fashion fades, only style remains”.

FLORENCE BROADHURST: THE ENIGMATIC DESIGN LEGEND
Florence Broadhurst has become a global phenomenon. In this lecture, Claudia will explore her amazing life and how she has revolutionised the design industry of Sydney in the 60s and 70s.

Claudia Chan Shaw will also be presenting a lecture on ART DECO NEW YORK on the evening of 1st September:
At the end of WW1, New York emerged as one of the world’s great cities. Manhattan found its expression in skyscrapers, apartment buildings, and movie palaces. From the late 1920s into the 40s, there was the explosion of exotic modern styles we now call Art Deco. This lecture explores the paintings, sculptures, murals and mosaics and their creators, and the influences behind this global movement.
