A Day Well Spent: Folk – Ben Morgan + Lucy Sugerman @ Great Southern Hotel

The Folk trail leads to the Great Southern Hotel, with Canberra singer-songwriter Lucy Sugerman opening the evening before Ben Morgan takes the stage for the final headline set of the day.

Lucy Sugerman creates soft folk-pop that balances sweetness with bite and charm with emotional depth. Her recent releases pair vulnerable lyrics with melodic hooks, while her growing live résumé includes BIGSOUND, SXSW in Austin, Groovin the Moo and main support on Sons Of The East’s sold-out Australian tour.

From busking on Manly’s Corso and the streets of Byron Bay to stages around the world, Ben Morgan has built an impressive following through his cool, cinematic indie-folk, shaded with blues and an achingly nostalgic quality. Raised on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, his songwriting draws on classic American and UK folk traditions alongside Australia’s coastal-folk sound.

His journey has seen him tour extensively and support artists including Ziggy Alberts, Ryan Harris and Kim Churchill. He also joined Alberts on stage during his headline show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, with the performance later appearing on Alberts’ official live album.
