Registration is open for our drop-off nature play sessions for the autumn holidays. Sessions sold out in summer – so get in quick!

Chose from half day (9am – 12pm) and full-day (9am – 3pm) programs for young adventurers, aged 4 – 14yrs.

Our experienced outdoor education mentors respond to your child’s interests and craft a day of physical challenge, social fun, and creative endeavour.

Your child will be offered the opportunity to:

• play collaborative games
• listen to myths and legends
• practice whittling, archery, knots and other bushcraft
• weave, paint, mould and sculpt artworks
• observe creek ecology
• test their physical limits with nature play

They will work together and problem solve their way through the day while reconnecting with friends and making new ones.

The program is from 9am – 4pm.

All food will be provided. Pack clothing to be outdoors and active, hat, water, enclosed shoes, swimwear, towel, personal medications, spare clothes, and spare enclosed shoes for the water activities.

This workshop is a 2 hour workshop where participants will be making THREE stacking rings. Workshops available Sunday 13th April 2025 10am – 12pm, Tuesday 22nd April & Saturday 26th April 2025 at 10am – 12pm.

This is a beginners taster workshop so no skills required to attend this class.

We provide tea & coffee and cool water during the workshop. Good conversation and a friendly encouraging atmosphere. An expert professional in a small group setting, providing you with assistants as required.

Recommended for ages 12+ and up.

Berry ANZAC Day Commemorations include a March from Apex Park to the Memorial Park, via Queen and Alexandra St, commencing at approx.10:30am, followed by a service at Memorial Park, near the railway station.

All participants are requested to be ready by 10.15 am at the cnr of Prince Alfred and Queen St, near Apex Park, for the parade marshal, WO2 Alex Mearns, to call the marchers into position once the area has been secured and traffic control is in place. Those in uniform are requested to wear medals and families attending can also wear their kinfolk medals (on the right-hand side of a jacket or shirt).

The inclement weather plan is to utilise the Berry School of Arts.

Shoalhaven Heads – Shoalhaven Heads Memorial Park just before 6am;
Bomaderry – Walsh Memorial Park, Meroo Street commencing at 5:45am;
Greenwell Point – assemble at Greenwell Point Memorial Hall at 5.10am and march off at 5.25am to ANZAC Park via Greenwell Point Road for service.
Kiama – Lighthouse at Blowhole Point at 5am

Art Workshops at Berry will host noted artist and experienced educator, Idris Murphy who will teach a 2 day workshop focusing on painting and sketching directly from nature.

Students will be exposed to a variety of ideas and approaches with informal discussion on composition, colour, mark-making, influences and spacial illusion. Students can paint in any medium. Small class size allows for individual attention, critique and developing your own style.

Idris’ work is held in the public collections of the Australian National Gallery, the National Library of Australia and the Art Gallery of NSW. He was winner of the ANZAC Prize 2015 and is highly experienced in teaching as a Senior Lecturer at the College of Fine Arts.

NEW DATE ANNOUNCED – 17th MAY 2025!

The Knights, the bands, the Clans, medieval villagers, singing and dancing will be back at the 2024 Berry Celtic Festival – Saturday 24th May, for a day full of entertainment.

Come see what medieval life was like in Celtic times. The Berry Celtic Festival steps off at 9.30am with a Grand Street Parade of pipe bands marching in their distinctive kilts, together with representatives of all the Clans, medieval knights, and Scottish Terrier dogs. The Parade proceeds down the main street of Berry and on to the Berry Showground where the rest of the day’s activities are held.

At the Showground you’ll see the marching of the massed bands, musical items, Celtic fiddlers, highland dancing, enchanted singing, and of course, the battles of the medieval knights.

The heavily armoured noble knights on horseback joust one another to see who is the last one standing. You’ll hear the thunder of the hooves as horses charge at one another with the jousting knights aiming their lances at each other. It is full of excitement.

Other knights resplendent in shining armour re-live battles in hand-to-hand combat demonstrating their skilful swordplay.

The Berry Celtic Festival is a fundraising endeavour of the Rotary Club of Berry.

Using drawing materials and/or paints, develop your skills in capturing atmosphere, light and distance unique to working outdoors.

Known for his abstract paintings, artist Ross Laurie was born in 1961 in Walcha, located in the northern tablelands of NSW. Laurie studied at Sydney College of the Arts in 1982 and then travelled to London to continue his studies. He returned to Australia in Melbourne in 1985 to study and graduated from a painting course at the Victoria College Prahran in 1986. He returned to Walcha in 1990, where he currently lives and practices.
