Bringing together one of Arthur Boyd’s most celebrated bodies of work with a major new commission by acclaimed contemporary artist Shaun Gladwell, Man on Fire: Visions of Nebuchadnezzar is a powerful new exhibition at Bundanon that explores themes of pride, power, transformation and renewal.

At the heart of the exhibition is Boyd’s renowned Nebuchadnezzar series, created largely in the United Kingdom during the 1960s. Inspired by the biblical story of the Babylonian king who is cast into the wilderness and forced to live as an animal, Boyd’s works reflect his deeply held pacifist beliefs and the social upheaval of the Vietnam War era. The paintings offer a compelling meditation on human vulnerability, ego and the consequences of unchecked power.

Responding directly to Boyd’s work is a significant new commission by Shaun Gladwell, one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists. Created during a residency at Bundanon, Gladwell’s work draws on his longstanding connection to the Shoalhaven and interest in themes of masculinity, transformation and the role of art as a catalyst for personal and social change.

Along the way they’ll track signs of wildlife, gather resources, trade information with fellow villagers and develop practical outdoor skills through collaborative play.

Led by experienced outdoor educators, each day unfolds organically in response to the interests and curiosity of the group. Children will explore bushland, scramble over rocks, learn bushcraft techniques and immerse themselves in creative outdoor play while building confidence, resilience and connection with nature.

Looking for something a little different? Green Mountain Nature Play is also running Botanical Exploration, where children will create eco-prints with natural plant dyes, learn about edible and medicinal plants, weave baskets and cook over the fire.

Designed for young riders and paddlers, this hands-on program helps participants build confidence and improve technique both on land and on the water. The day includes mountain biking sessions on a purpose-built bike track, where kids will develop cycling skills through coaching, games and practical challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

Participants will also take to the water in kayaks, learning paddling techniques, boat control and water confidence through guided instruction and engaging activities.

Suitable for confident beginners through to more experienced riders, the program focuses on learning by doing while encouraging teamwork, resilience and a sense of adventure. Please note this is not a learn-to-ride program. Participants must already be able to ride a bike confidently, including starting, stopping and maintaining control.

Hands-on activities include creating eco-prints using plant dyes, clay and sunlight, weaving baskets from natural materials, whittling a wand and cooking food over the fire.

Guided by experienced outdoor educators, children are encouraged to slow down, observe closely and connect with the natural world through exploration, creativity and play. With opportunities to wander bush tracks, discover native plants and develop practical outdoor skills, every day is shaped by curiosity and the interests of the group.

For children who love imaginative play and adventure, Green Mountain Nature Play is also offering Village Quest, where young explorers can build a wilderness village, create tools, learn fire-making skills and work together through collaborative bushcraft challenges.

Whether you are visiting Berry for the day or settling in for a longer stay, it is a great excuse to slow down and enjoy a family outing in the heart of the village.

Bookings are recommended. Please include yourself and any other attending guests in your booking, not just the children, to ensure a table is reserved for your group.

Designed for young riders and paddlers, this hands-on program helps participants build confidence and improve technique both on land and on the water. The day includes mountain biking sessions on a purpose-built bike track, where kids will develop cycling skills through coaching, games and practical challenges in a safe and supportive environment.

Participants will also take to the water in kayaks, learning paddling techniques, boat control and water confidence through guided instruction and engaging activities.

Suitable for confident beginners through to more experienced riders, the program focuses on learning by doing while encouraging teamwork, resilience and a sense of adventure. Please note this is not a learn-to-ride program. Participants must already be able to ride a bike confidently, including starting, stopping and maintaining control.

Get ready to craft your own Rocky Road in this fun, hands-on chocolate experience at The Treat Factory. Whether you love gooey marshmallows, crunchy nuts, chewy caramels, or a refreshing minty twist, this workshop lets you mix and match your favourite ingredients to create a treat that’s uniquely yours.

Start with a base of smooth Belgian chocolate—choose from milk or dark—then customise your Rocky Road with a delicious selection of mix-ins, including fluffy marshmallows, assorted jellies, crunchy nuts, dried fruits, chewy caramels, liquorice bites, refreshing mint pieces, other tasty surprises.

Mix, pour, and set your creation before packaging it in your very own take-home gift box—perfect for sharing (or keeping all to yourself!).

This class is perfect for the whole family, adults and children welcome to attend the session. The workbench is 90cm high – to participate your child should be able to easily view and work at a bench this height.

Bringing together one of Arthur Boyd’s most celebrated bodies of work with a major new commission by acclaimed contemporary artist Shaun Gladwell, Man on Fire: Visions of Nebuchadnezzar is a powerful new exhibition at Bundanon that explores themes of pride, power, transformation and renewal.

At the heart of the exhibition is Boyd’s renowned Nebuchadnezzar series, created largely in the United Kingdom during the 1960s. Inspired by the biblical story of the Babylonian king who is cast into the wilderness and forced to live as an animal, Boyd’s works reflect his deeply held pacifist beliefs and the social upheaval of the Vietnam War era. The paintings offer a compelling meditation on human vulnerability, ego and the consequences of unchecked power.

Responding directly to Boyd’s work is a significant new commission by Shaun Gladwell, one of Australia’s leading contemporary artists. Created during a residency at Bundanon, Gladwell’s work draws on his longstanding connection to the Shoalhaven and interest in themes of masculinity, transformation and the role of art as a catalyst for personal and social change.

Spanning generations and artistic disciplines, Man on Fire: Visions of Nebuchadnezzar creates a fascinating dialogue between two influential Australian artists, inviting visitors to reflect on enduring questions of identity, exile, psychological reckoning and what it means to be human.

Come and shop at the South Coast’s largest monthly outdoor market! Held on the first Sunday of every month except February, Berry Markets hosts approximately 200 stalls offering a range of arts and crafts, locally grown vegetables and produce, collectables, books, plants, leather goods, clothing and many other interesting stalls to browse.

Discover the vibrant flavours of Mexican street food in this hands-on cooking experience at Carramar Kitchen.

Designed for food lovers and home cooks alike, this immersive class explores the art of creating fresh corn tortillas from scratch, with participants learning how to press and griddle the perfect base for custom street tacos. Along the way, guests will chop, char and pickle a variety of delicious fillings and sides, paired with vibrant house-made salsas packed with fresh flavour.

The class also includes a lesson in preparing beautifully fresh local seafood ceviche, served on crisp tostadas for the ultimate coastal-inspired bite.

The day concludes around a festive communal table, where everyone gathers to enjoy a generous family-style feast celebrating the flavours, colour and spirit of Mexican street food.

Classes are limited to eight participants, creating an intimate and welcoming environment for cooks of all skill levels.
