The Belle Miners are delighted to be launching their album in Berry, alongside Australian diplomat, songwriter and raconteur Fred Smith (Australian Story, TedX) who has just released his new album “Great”.
ABOUT BELLE MINERS
Life-long friends, Canadian musicians Felicia Harding and Marina Avros and Australian-based Jaime Jackett, combine dense vocal harmonies, clever lyrics and a liberating, joyous sound, into 10 relatable stories. The album “Powerful Owl” is an upbeat sonic journey covering themes from love and loss to overcoming life-threatening illness, described by Forte Magazine as. “a shimmering sound and awe-inspiring set of tracks”.
The trio formed in Australia in 2015 and their unique sound, a blend of deeply intimate experiences, is a triumph for artists that live several thousand kilometres apart. “Powerful Owl”, produced by Juno-award-winning Joby Baker in British Columbia, is released through MGM distribution on Nov 3.
PRAISE FOR BELLE MINERS
JUBILANT (Los Angeles, US)
“A living, breathing quality like the best of Missy Higgins … breaks your heart and mends it in the same breath.”
ABOUT FRED SMITH
Songwriter, comedian, raconteur and author Fred Smith presents songs from his rich back catalogue and his new album “Great” – a wry interrogation of American politics, history and pathologies.
“Fred Smith is an exceptional songwriter and certainly the equal of Bogle, Walker and Schumann…the most interesting folk musician working in Australia. In tune with the times and prepared to reach beyond predictable folk formats, he is endlessly innovative and creative. He is also very funny”. Bruce Elder, Sydney Morning Herald
