Breaking Bread with Friends - Bonita Ely

08sep12:30 pm2:00 pmBreaking Bread with Friends - Bonita ElyA PART OF BUNDANON'S WILD WEEKEND

Event Details

Join Bundanon for a lunch and long discussion exploring the trailblazing art practice of performance artist Bonita Ely. In conversation with Sophie O’Brien, Head of Curatorial and Learning, Bonita will share stories from her feminist and environmentally charged practice, over a delicious meal designed in collaboration between the artist and Bundanon’s Executive Chef Douglas Innes-Will.

ABOUT BONITA ELY
Since the 1970s, Bonita Ely’s practice has examined environmental, feminist and sociopolitical issues through diverse media including performance, photography and installation.

Her performances explore tensions between humans, other species and the natural environment, with works of the late 1970s and early 1980s tackling the cultural clashes surrounding Aboriginal land rights, as enacted in Jabiluka UO2 (1979); or feminism, as depicted in Breadline (1980), Dogwoman Communicates with the Younger Generation (1982) and A Mother Shows Her Daughter to the Universe (1982).

The event is part of Bundanon’s Wild Weekend. Across Saturday 7 to Sunday 8 September there will also be a (Not So) Blue Light Disco, bush foraging, queer storytelling, live theatre, and of course Bundanon’s latest exhibition, Wilder Times: Arthur Boyd and the mid-1980s landscape.
