Opening Weekend – The Hidden Line: Art of the Boyd Women @ Bundanon

Bundanon’s summer exhibition The Hidden Line: Art of the Boyd Women celebrates five generations of women from one of Australia’s most influential artistic families.

Spanning painting, printmaking, sculpture, design, film and photography, the exhibition features more than 300 works by Emma Minnie Boyd, Doris Boyd, Lady Mary Nolan, Yvonne Boyd, Lucy Boyd Beck, Hermia Boyd and their descendants, alongside contemporary commissions from artists including Pat Brassington, Helen Johnson, Narelle Jubelin and Tjunkaya Tapaya OAM.

The opening weekend on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd November will be a two-day celebration of art, creativity and connection. Saturday’s program begins with the official opening including a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country, followed by a program of talks, performances and panels exploring the legacy of the Boyd women and their influence on Australian art. Highlights include Dear Yvonne, a moving performance of Joy Hester’s 1943 letter to Yvonne Boyd by Gretel Killeen, and the Boyd Music Series Concert featuring Norwegian Hardanger fiddle player Benedicte Maurseth. Visitors can also enjoy DJ sets, film screenings, an interactive art installation by Sarah Goffman, and the Ramox Café open all day.

The program continues on Sunday with a morning wellbeing workshop, Dear Yvonne performed by Jessica Boyd, live music, additional film screenings and a keynote talk by Professor Lisa Slade re-examining postwar Australian art and its narratives.
